Keyword Search

Enter one or more terms into the search box. You can add date limitations to the search by using the date and calendar fields displayed below the search box. When you use the keyword search, you are searching through the main fields in the Event Record. The fields included in the search are: Event Title, Event Description, Presentor, Organization Name, Topic, Location Name and Target Audience. If your search matches only one record, the full record will be immediately displayed.

LEO Search Options

Single Keyword Search

The system searches for the word you entered and then displays a list of brief records containing your search term. Click on the Event Title in the brief record to display the full Event Record. You can limit your initial keyword search by date.

Once you have received your results, you can narrow them through post-search limits which display on the results page.

Multiple Keyword Search

When you enter multiple words into the search box, the system will perform a phrase search, an "and" search, and an "or" search automatically. You can limit your keyword search by date. The events in your result set will indicate how that record was retrieved. The top of the page includes a legend explaining the images used and what type of search retrieved the record. Each group of records will display in chronological order.

Since this is the LEO database, paws were selected as the icons to be used.

Phrase SearchThe red paw indicates that the search terms you entered were found and specifically found in the same field, next to each other. This is considered a phrase search.
And Search The blue paw indicates that the search terms you entered were all found in the record, but not next to each other.
Or Search The green paw indicates that not all of the search terms you entered were found, however at least one of the search terms was found in the record.

Once you have received your results, you can narrow the list post-search limits which display on the results page. Click on the Event Title in the brief record to display the full Event Record.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find a past event?

To find an event that has already past, use the regular Keyword or Advanced Search and include a date range for your search. Just set the date range to the time period in which the event happened and LEO will retrieve the record.

Can I use my Back Button in LEO?

The Back Button in your browser will behave differently depending on which page is displaying in LEO. Every page has bread-crumbs at the top to help you navigate back and forth. Due to security and other programming concerns, not all of the pages will gracefully handle the Back Button feature. If you do use the Back Button and you do not see a page come up, click on the "Refresh" button in your browser and then click "ok" when asked if you want to re-post the page.

The best thing to do is to use the links and the breadcrumbs on the LEO screens to navigate through the system. The breadcrumbs can be found at the top of the page, just under the LEO header.

When I click on a link in the event record, why doesn't anything happen?

Links included in the event record such as location and registration information open a link in a new window. You may need to change your browser settings to allow pop-ups in order to have these links work properly. Most browsers allow you to allow pop-ups only from specific sites so if you include "leo.clicweb.org" in the list of allowable pop-up sites, you should be able to click on the links in LEO but still not be open to pop-ups from other web sites.
